glossary definition:
blackheads:
clogged pores, blackhead, comedones

Blackheads (or comedones) are a type of pimple or blemish, caused by the blocked follicle (pore). An oily substance created by the sebaceous gland can combine with dead skin cells and become trapped in the pore.

To reduce the occurance of blackheads try to avoid using clogging or over-greasy moisturizers, use a good cleanser, and perform gentle exfoliation. It can be beneficial for the skin to squeeze and remove the blockage, but be gentle and take care not to damage the skin.

Products labeled "non-comedogenic" claim not to block pores.
