from the Laura Mercier website :
the flawless face
Raised in France, Laura Mercier originally studied to become a painter; this background is now evident in every aspect of her work. She began her artistic training at 17 when she entered a painting school in Paris and eventually became more interested in art as it related to the ability to transform the face. Upon receiving her degree in makeup design from the prestigious Carita School in Paris she was asked to represent the school as a makeup artist and instructor. Before long she began working closely with Thibault Vabre, a well-known French makeup artist.
In 1985, Laura was asked to join the team launching Elle magazine in the United States and moved to New York. Soon after, her reputation spread and she was sought after by the biggest names in the fashion and beauty industry. She developed relationships with the most influential fashion photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier and Steven Meisel for magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, Glamour, Vanity Fair, Seventeen and Mademoiselle.
In 1996 Laura Mercier launched her own line of cosmetics. The goal was to create a line of cosmetics and skincare that would provide every woman the opportunity to achieve her full beauty potential. It is no wonder that Laura's specialty and trademark, the "flawless face" has made her the most consistently requested makeup artist of choice for some of today's top models and actresses.
When leaders of the fashion and beauty world are asked to name the most talented makeup artist today, most will say without hesitation...Laura Mercier.
